Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD, often referred to as Cy-Fair) is a large school district in northwest Harris County, Texas (USA). The district covers a small portion of Houston, the city of Jersey Village, and other unincorporated areas in Harris County. The district covers 188 square miles of land.
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is part of the taxation base for North Harris Montgomery Community College District.
The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District continues to be one of the fastest growing in the nation, as well as the 3rd largest district in the state of Texas and the 40th largest in the United States beginning in the year 2005. As of September 15, 2006, the district had 91,798 students in 68 campuses (forty-five elementary schools, fourteen middle schools, and nine high schools).[1]
CFISD was the largest district to receive a ‘recognized’ rating for three consecutive years in the state’s accountability system. Poised for growth by a $713.2 million bond referendum in 2004 to accommodate 95,000 students, the district will continue to build schools and support facilities.
At the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year Cypress Springs High School was the largest school in Cy-Fair ISD (with 3,905 students as of September 15, 2006).
