Cynthia Gouw

Cynthia Gouw (born 30 May 1963) is a nationally recognized American TV news anchor and host, an actress and model.

As a TV journalist, Gouw is a 3-time Emmy Award winning reporter.
Cynthia has worked as a television anchor and/or reporter for KPIX-TV Channel 5 (CBS) San Francisco; KDFW-TV Channel 4 (FOX) in Dallas; and KXTV-TV Channel 10 (ABC) in Sacramento. She also served as a fill-in host on KABC-TV's Channel 7 (ABC) Los Angeles’ newsmagazine show "Eye on L.A." and was a host on E! Entertainment Television in Los Angeles.
In Philadelphia, Cynthia hosts the TV show “Asian Outlook”, a half-hour talk show focused on the affairs of the Pacific Rim for WYBE. Her show was named “Best TV Talk Show Series” by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters in 2005.

She also was a fill-in host and reporter for KQED-FM’s “Pacific Time”, a syndicated radio program which airs in 30 radio markets including New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and Seattle. For her work on “Pacific Time”, the Asian American Journalists Association recognized Cynthia with a "National Award" for her reporting on Asian American issues. The Public Radio News Directors also awarded her radio show, "Pacific Time" with the "Best Large Market Public Affairs Program" for a show which spotlighted Cynthia’s reporting on the 10-year anniversary of Los Angeles' civil unrest and riots.

Early in her career she dabbled in movies and television. Trekkie fans will remember her in the role as “Caithlin Dar”, the Romulan Ambassador in the movie Star Trek V: The Final Frontier in 1989.

As a model, Cynthia was named the Star Search “$100-Thousand Dollar Spokesmodel Grand Champion" in 1988. In 2005, “MORE Magazine”, a fashion and beauty magazine named Cynthia as one of the top models for women over-40 in a nationwide search. Cynthia is currently a contract model with Wilhelmina Models, New York. She also won Miss Chinatown USA in 1983. She has been named Member of the Year by the Chinese American Council and Honoree of the Year by the Asian Bar Association of Sacramento. She has also been recognized by the California State Legislature, and is on the Advisory Board of Stanford University's "Grade the News”, a media and ethics watchdog group. She also was an Honorary Board Member of the YMCA’s “Youth and Government”, a model legislature program for high school students. She is scheduled to be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the National Conventions of the Organization of Chinese Americans and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, which will both be held in Philadelphia in 2006.

She received her B.A. in political science/international relations from UCLA in 1985 and her J.D. from UCLA’s Graduate School of Law in 1991.
