[edit] History

CyberEvolution was founded in 2003 by owner Charlie Plitt. Currently CEVO has completed 3 seasons of Counter-Strike 1.6, and is on their second season of both Counter-Strike: Source and Call of Duty 2. Earlier in 2006 they had expanded to two more games, Day of Defeat 1.3 and Defense of the Ancients(DotA).

[edit] Anti-Cheat: CMN Client

In recent years, online gamers have been plagued by the mass use of cheating utilities within leagues, which ultimately spoils the luster of the game for all those who are playing against that person using the cheat. CEVO noticed that, and realized that the current leagues weren't holding up to the standards that online leagues should be. With that said, CEVO released the "CEVO Match Network" or commonly called the "CMN Client."

The CMN3 2.0, which is the current version build, had been six months in development by a professional programmer with over 20 years experience in coding. The latest build included remarkable improvements in efficiency and performance. Also, the software was easier than ever to install and use. Since CMN is developed in Java and packaged using Excelsior Jet ( http://www.excelsior-usa.com/jet.html ), it is portable across nearly all Windows Operating Systems. Further, the installer now included all system software that is needed.

By utilizing lag-free scanning, light resource use, cross compatibility, various new and improved techniques, and weekly updates, the CMN3 allows specific staff personnel of CEVO to view what are called, "CMN Logs." CMN Logs allow trained, and detailed personnel to easily determine whether a player is or was previously using a cheat or "hack."

[edit] Anti-Cheat: Officials

CEVO prides itself in having a very organized demo review system. All players participating in the league are required to record themselves play via ingame recording commands. When a team accuses an individual of cheating, a CEVO official contacts them requesting their "demo." The demo, along with the CMN Logs, are watched by CEVO officials. The demo is then reviewed by a member of their highly educated CID, Cheat Investigation Division. This process takes 3 days.

[edit] The Community

The CEVO community, as it's known, diverges into various coverage, and media forms. By releasing staff-written articles, movie reviews, monthly newsletters, and many other public agents, CEVO is one of the first leagues to "give back" to gamers by providing them what they want when it comes to coverage and relating issues that gamers face.

Gamers everywhere are filled with their daily doses of up-to-date live statistics, coverage, and articles written on topics that affect them as individuals. Whether it be their favorite team, or answers to a question they may have on a specific topic relating to the game, CEVO is striving to form a friendly, yet informative community built on dedication, accuracy, and consistency in the foundations of this community that they're forming.
