Cutblocks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cutblock, also known as a clearcut, is a logging operation where all trees in a location are removed. The harvested area can grow back naturally or be replanted. Depending on the amount of consideration taken when planning and harvesting cutblocks, they can be ecologically suistanable and beneficial or ecologically detrimental. Cutblocks are often beneficial when designed properly for wildlife, as they provide areas of thick vegetation that can be used for food and/or cover. Wood and forestry products are very useful in everyday life. It is therefore our responsibility to ensure that logging and treeplanting practices are carried out in a sustainable manner.
