Cut Copy are a band from Melbourne, Australia. Their sound, perhaps best labeled as indie dance, is much in the vein of contemporaries such as Daft Punk, and draws considerable influence from 80's bands such as Fleetwood Mac, New Order, and ELO.
The band began in 2001 as the project of Dan Whitford. In 2003 Whitford recruited additional members, and in 2005 toured internationally for the first time, visiting London, New York and Los Angeles. They have toured with international acts Franz Ferdinand, Junior Senior, Bloc Party, and Mylo amongst others.
Cut Copy is managed by Phil Hutcheon, and is signed to the record label Modular Recordings, home of Wolfmother and The Presets.
In 2004 Cut Copy released their debut LP, Bright Like Neon Love. The music is written and produced by frontman Dan Whitford, who is also a graphic designer and DJ.
