Talk:Custard pie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is not usually used as an actual dessert anymore?

There are lots of places locally to me that you can still buy custard pies, major restaurant chains like Bob Evans[1], and other "home cooking" style restaurants generally have custard pies, although they can be referred to as cream pies.Fine Arts 18:53, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm highly dubious that custard pie isn't a desert anymore, and I note that my 1996 copy of _The Cook's Bible_ by Christopher Kimball (founder and editor of Cook's Illustrated Magazine) has an entire chapter named "Custard Pies, Chiffon Pies, and Holiday Pies." I'd also argue that the current text would be better moved to Pie_toss, especially given that such events can use any sort of pie (and, as the text notes, even shaving foam) rather than custard in particular. (In fact, I just moved most of the old content to the Pie_toss stub and replaced it with a brief description and recipe.) --Bug 04:49, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
