Current and future event templates are designed to indicate that an article or a section is describing a current event, or a well-documented future event.

Current events templates are merely used to warn the editor or reader about the great flux of edits and the fast-changing state of the article, due to the fact that current events tend to get the most attention from editors.

Current events templates should be always be placed at the top of the article.

The template should be removed from the article when the event described is no longer featured in the news headlines.

The main current event template is {{current}}. It adds the article into Category:Current events:

This µ documents a current event. Information may change rapidly as the event progresses.

For sports events use {{current sport}} instead. It adds the article into Category:Current sports events:

This article documents a current sports-related event. Information may change rapidly as the event progresses.

Future events templates indicate articles or sections that describe a well-documented scheduled or expected future event, and warn the reader about the speculative nature of the information.

Remember that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball: Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation. All articles about future events must be verifiable, and the subject matter must be of sufficiently wide interest that it would merit an article if the event had already occurred.

For future sporting events, use {{future sport}}:

For a future election, use {{future election}}:

This article or section contains information about an upcoming or ongoing election. Content may change dramatically as the election approaches and unfolds.

For a future album release, use {{future album}}:

This article or section contains information about a scheduled or expected future album. It is likely to contain information of a speculative nature and the content may change dramatically as the album release approaches and more information becomes available.

For a future single release, use {{future single}}:
