Currie High School

Currie Community High School is a six year comprehensive school serving the south-west of the City of Edinburgh, Scotland. The school roll currently stands at 972 of whom some 25% attend as a result of parental placing requests.

The school is a high-achieving school offering extensive programmes of extra-curricular activities and community service. Finally Currie is a designated Community High School offering an extensive programme of classes, activities and events to the local community.

Currie High School has received several public service awards including the Charter Mark (1999 and 2002) and the Quality Scotland Business Excellence Award (2001). Several politicians have made visits, including former First Minister Henry McLeish.

Currie High's feeder primary schools are Currie Primary School, Nether Currie Primary School and Juniper Green Primary School.

The current headteacher is Dr Dorothy White, recently recruited to replace the last headmaster Mr Eric Melvin.

The school can trace its origins back to the early 17th century. The present building, the sixth opened in 1966, was extensively refurbished between 1996 – 1998.
