Curly Wurly
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Curly Wurly is a type of chocolate bar manufactured by Cadbury and sold in the UK and Australia. It was launched in the UK in 1971 and relaunched in 1976.[1] Its shape resembles two flattened, intertwined serpentine strings. The bar is made of chocolate-coated caramel.
Also available are Curly wurly Squirlies which come in a bag and are just the cross beams of the ladder and resemble a bag of chocolatey worms.
The Mars Confectionery company made a very similar product in the United States in the 1970s called a Marathon, but the product was discontinued.
Curly Wurly bars are often cited by those who were children in the 1970s & 1980s as being larger many years ago when compared to the supposedly smaller bars available nowadays.[citation needed] Compare similar opinion of Wagon Wheels as a measure of nostalgia. A 2004 online poll found that the Curly Wurly was the most popular chocolate bar still in production.[2]
The Curly Wurly was also available in Canada during the 1970's and called a Wig Wag.
