Culture of Russia and Russian culture require a major rewrite to draw a clear separation between the two. mikka (t) 18:20, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

Regarding Culture of Russia and Russian culture - IMHO, there is a difference between the Culture of the Russian State and the Culture of the Russians. Vald 21:13, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Ok after thinking about it I'm getting your point. We can't have too similar titles used though. I would suggest moving this article to Cultures of Russia and then making a note of it at the Russian culture article which should be moved back here. At that page, seperate culture articles can be made for the Tatars and other groups. Falphin 20:26, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
No moving back, sorry. That's the whole my point: this article is about the culture of a state, into which national cultures contribute and where they interact. I see no problem with having similar titles; similar things do exist. And it will be no harm is someone starts reading a "wrong" article, since there is cross-referencing.
"Cultures of Russia" is an artificial title. You will not find any usage of this term. mikka (t) 21:07, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
I doubt we can completely agree on this but is not all that important either. Where exactly does Russian culture need a major rewrite. I'm going to be adding a lot to it over the next couple weeks so that would be helpful. Thanks. Falphin 12:30, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
The major rewrite is in clear separation of Rissian (i.e., slavic) culture and the culture of the multiethnic state. The previous (single) article contained only microscopic pieces of other cultures of Russia, detectable only during the careful reading. I am glad that you understool my main idea and I trust you will keep it in mind during your rewrite, whatever future article titles will be. This must be decided by a broader group of opinins, and I am posting a notice at the Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Russia/Russia-related Wikipedia notice board. mikka (t) 16:37, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] xenophobia?!

The text below, removed from the article, seems to be disconnected from the paragraph which preceded it, and at best of a highly speculative nature. I have not seen anywhere indications that Russians are any more xenophobic than any other people. PS Coolness towards strangers does not qualify as xenophobia. Haiduc 16:37, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

This Xenophobia is often attributed to events that took place hundreds of years ago, during the Mongol invasion of Russia. During So, Numerous cities along the Volga and in the Ukraine where sacked, and the cultural and political center of Modern Russia -Muscvoy, Moscow- was taxed heavily by the Mongol Administrators.

This removed statement is a very strange one, to put it mildly... thanks Haiduc for taking it out. - Introvert talk 22:45, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Culture of Russia Changes

This page is in need of serious attention. It helped me a bit, even though I couldn't find Yekaterinburg's cultures. If at all, I would like to have cultures of each major city in Russia. Thanks.
