Cui Yan (Chinese: 崔琰; pinyin: Cuī Yǎn) was a vassal of the Three Kingdoms Period who served under Yuan Shao. Cui Yan never really attained much fame due to his failure to develop his proposals. Cui Yan afterwards went on to serve under Cao Cao, but ended up being imprisoned for arguing against the enthronement of Cao Cao. Cui Yan ended up being beaten to death while in jail.
