Cue card
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cue cards are placards with words written on them that help actors and speakers remember their lines. They are typically used in television broadcasts where they can be held off-camera, unseen by the audience. Cue cards have largely fallen out of favor with modern broadcasters and were replaced by the teleprompter. Cue cards are also substituted with electronic signs on television, commonly shown on talk shows and game shows, having the words "Applaud" or "Laughter" on them.
