Please learn the difference between "move" (as defined by the MediaWiki software) and "copy and paste". This delete request states "I moved..." - no you did not - you copy-and-pasted. If I had carried out your delete request, I would have destroyed over a year's edit history. If you wish to move an article to a title that already exists, eg. in the simplest case to reverse a previous move, then you must request an admin to do it. -- RHaworth 18:36:28, 2005-09-11 (UTC)

[edit] Category link text labels

I noticed you updated the category tag for Saffron to read "[[Category:Firefly characters|Saffron]]". In case you weren't aware of it, this is not necessary. The only reason to add a category link text label is to change the order it is displayed on a category page. There are three cases where this is useful:

1. Ignore a leading word in an article title, like "The" or a person's first name. For example, Malcolm Reynolds uses "[[Category:Firefly characters|Reynolds, Malcolm]]". This would not apply to Saffron, as she is (at this point) a single-named person.
2. Meta-articles, which you might want to keep "out of the way" of normal category items. These are tagged as "[[Category:Category name|*]]" and end up in a separate section headed by "*".
3. Templates that force inclusion in a category, which are tagged "[[Category:Category name|{{PAGENAME}}]]". These are sorted by the title of the article the template is placed in. (Unfortunately, there is currently no way I know of to reorder articles like case #1 using templates like case #3.)

[edit] Final Fantasy images

Aww, damn, those weren't orphaned? :( I deleted them months ago... if they were deleted just a few days ago there might have been some way to recover them from a cache somehow, but at this point I doubt there's anything that can be done. The trouble is, when images are linked to through text links, as they are in the articles you mentioned, they don't show up on the image description page under the "file links" section. I even contacted DarkEvil about the images because they all seemed to be unused, but he left Wikipedia a few days later. I'm very sorry about that... Coffee 17:01, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

• Check the talk page for the article, a template of it being previously listed as a good article is there. The person who put that there stated that it needs to be well referenced and have sources. Hi again. I'm answering here because you seem more comfortable with Wikipedia, but I guess probably it should be on [1] in the long run.

First off, yes, if you want to ride the Metro your best bet is to buy a "Carnet de dix billets" pron: carnay duh dee. You can get them in Gare du Nord assuming you are taking the Eurostar. They have an info booth there where the staff wear little badges with flags showing the languages they speak, so just look for the union jack.

Actually though I would put the metro third on my list of means of transport in Paris. I greatly prefer walking and cycling. Given that you and your friend are 20 and 21 you really ought to walk since you can probably see everything you want to see on foot, and its more fun anyhow. As soon as you get in get a copy of "Plan de Paris par Arrondissement" (or print out my maps from Wikitravel). That said the metro can be fun: If you want to experience full on metro crazyness try to use the Châtelet-Les Halles station: It's insane! Far far crazier than any London tube station. Also in a pinch cabs are very very cheap by London standards.

For your friend I would suggest you spend some time in the 4th Arrondissement. Around the corner of Rue Vielle du Temple and Rue de la Bretonnerie is where you'll probably find the scene I guess he's looking for. There are a couple of hundred trendy cafes in the area some gay and some straight: Just walk around. Actually my wife and I did most of the reviews in the Wikitravel article, and since we're not much interested in gay bars we didn't review any. Your friend's contribution would be welcome over there.

If I were you I probably wouldn't much worry about the language problem. The waitstaff will speak some English pretty much anywhere you go in the 1st or 4th arrondissements, and that should be more than enough Paris for one visit. That said the pleasantries can be pretty important, so do study up on those, "bon jour", "pardonnez-moi parlez-vous l'anglais ?" etc.

Almost every hotel in Paris has English speaking staff, so that's almost certainly not an issue. What's your price range? -- MarkJaroski 14:29, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Hiya, I've had a dip into some of your new stuff over today and just wanted to say its looking good so far. I especially like the Announcements system - I'd quite like to see that go live immediately actually =) It's still a bit tricky at the moment to see how it will all feel, but I'm sure once you get a front end in place that should all become clearer. >Gamemaker 23:38, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Had another sniff around:

• I like the changes to the Review section, having the project page for information and the talk page for discussion makes sense and should make things tidier. I'd add a note somewhere early on that encourages newbies to bypass whatever aspects of the submission process they don't understand (similar to a note I added at the top of the current Review page). You might also want to specify what the appropriate 'status' field options are: I guess 'open' and 'complete' are enough, or maybe 'open', 'resolved' and 'unresolved' would be better.
• Your WPFF Subpage template may be redundant, as sub-pages in project space automatically get a link to their parent level at the top of the page...
• Good idea to put an explaination of the role call, though I envisioned it being used to populate the active participants list on the project front page: ie, the names on the role call at the end of a month define the new month's active participants list, and the role call is flushed for the new month. I think this is probably what you meant anyway, just with different words =)

Hi again, nice job on the implementation of the new pages! Something's confusing me though, we seem to have two Community sections now: the old one on the main discussion page, and the new one on its own page. The new page seems to be the new home, but it refers people back to the old section for the role call... =/ Would it be better to move all Community stuff to the new page? No hard feelings whatsoever. I've come to understand where you were coming from, and am trying to adjust my judgement accordingly. Cases like the Al Bhed thing probably could have done with a full week, whereas something like that Midgar discussion a while back needed exactly as long as it ran, or at least a good two weeks for everyone to weigh in on it.

Welcome, Cuahl/archive2, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee , KnowledgeOfSelf, JoanneB, Titoxd and FireFox. The elections have ended.

Well, not really a glitch as such, more an oversight on my part. After adding the WPFF NavFrame to our main Talk pages, I think I've spotted people having problems when they use the + button to add a topic: the new topic gets placed below the NavFrame... =/ I thought I'd pick your brain and ask if you can think of any way around this, short of removing the box from the bottom of the page..?
