CryENGINE2 is a new game engine which is a heavily extended version of the CryENGINE currently only being used for Crytek's upcoming game, Crysis. In cooperation with ATI they created a machinima demo project called "The Project," which used an early version of this engine, released in Fall 2004. Including shader model 2 based HDR, Depth-of-field, Motion blur. Not much is known about it, and new technical demo at E3 2006 revealed that it will now feature volumetric clouds, dynamic ambient lighting, soft shadows, as well as extremely detailed models. Like the first engine, it will also support HDR and normal mapping.
