Talk:Crumb

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I believe that the expression "Crumbs" as an expletive is derived from an Irish expression "The Curse of Cromwell on You". This was then shortened to the expletive "Crummell" which was again shortened to "Crumbs"

My Grandmother who was born in 1894 and had Irish connections used the expression Crummell frequently as a mild expletive John Atkins

What's the evidence for this derivation? Chambers Dictionary says that "crumbs" is a "euphemism for Christ". Gdr 20:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
