The image Image:Cruiseonoprah.jpg is being linked here; though the picture is originally copyright, I (Extraordinary Machine 19:02, 20 February 2006 (UTC)) feel it is covered by fair use because:
- The image is of significantly lower resolution than the original screenshot (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).
- No free or public domain images have been located for the subject of the article or the television series.
- The image does not limit the copyright owners' rights to distribute the television series in any way.
- The image is intended to represent the subject's relationship with actor Tom Cruise, the person in the screenshot. Its inclusion in the article is important because it represents a significant point in the subject's personal life that is discussed extensively in the article. Additionally, the image accompanies discussion included in the article of the controversy surrounding the relationship, controversy that the media strongly associated with the episode of the television series that the screenshot was created from.
- The image and ones similar to it are used on various websites, so its use on Wikipedia does not make it significantly more accessible or visible than it already is. The image is being used for informational purposes only, and its use is not believed to detract from the original television series in any way.
