[edit] Crust from Texas

In the early '90s, Crust made a go of trying to be a just a little more creepy and psychotic than all the other psychedelic Texas bands of the time (such as Butthole Surfers, The Pain Teens)—no small task. The trio was made up of John Hawkins, Jerry Page, and Richard Smith. The group released three albums on the Trance Syndicate label: Sacred Heart of Crust, Crust, and Crusty Love. Their recordings often included an amplified door spring.

Stage antics were often as unsettling as the music itself, and frequently included live earthworms, fresh beef tongues, fire, and whatever else was lying around that could be used in what some would call an "unholy" manner. Crust was known to fear playing show's in Waco and would often up their stage antics, including lighting their pubic hairs on fire and moshing naked amongst the crowd, whenever the "boys from Waco" would show up.
