Trusting but dumb, Crumplezone is often drawn into serving as the muscle to back up the paranoid plotting of his partner Ransack. Huge, powerful and superfast, Crumplezone is sometimes surprised by sudden turns. Not that it matters - he's the biggest guy on the Speed Planet, and crashing straight ahead through whatever gets in his way is his specialty. Twin-turbine ramjets can propel him at nearly the speed of sound, and selective thrust reversal allows him to fire hypersonic, high-explosive slugs nearly 12 miles.
Crumplezone's Cyber Key enables him to generate explosive energy to fire his enormous twin cannons.
With dark power coursing through his circuitry, his might in battle is nearly unmatched, but DARK CRUMPLEZONE is just as dumb as ever. Being dead gave him a mean streak a mile wide, and getting put back together by the otherworldly power of GALVATRON gave him the weaponry he needed. What he can't smash through, he knocks down, and what he can't knock down, he pulverizes with his forward plasma ejector cannons. He is too dumb to be a real threat to the AUTOBOTS, but GALVATRON is content to just set him loose on the battlefield and see what he can blast before the AUTOBOTS shut him down.
[edit] Animated Series
Crumplezone is a massive Transformer from Planet Velocitron (Speedia in Galaxy Force) who serves as the muscle to back up his partner Ransack. His bulky frame ( the biggest on Speedia) possesses incredible speed, racing with fearsome swiftness along even the most winding roadways. He and Ransack were minding their business when they were drafted by Megatron.
In the episode 14, Heroes, Red Alert contacted the Autobots on Earth and asked for Optimus Prime to join then on Velocitron. Ransack and Crumplezone tricked Hot Shot and Dirt Boss into believing that a race between them would determine which of them would be allowed to race Override for the Planet Cup. During the race Ransack and Crumplezone caused a rockslide that buried Hot Shot, but he was saved when Optimus Prime, Vector Prime and Landmine arrived. Optimus was upset that Hot Shot had become involved with the locals. Clocker and Brakedown were eager to help the Autobots. After being unable to obtain the Planet Cup from Override himself, Optimus Prime endorsed Hot Shot's plan to win the cup in a race, with the other Autobots aiding him. Ransack and Crumplezone were contacted by Megatron and were told to keep on eye on things, so they too decided to enter the race, either to win the cup, or at least cause as much damage as they could to the other racers. The qualification round started with Override, Dirt Boss, Ransack, Crumplezone, Optimus Prime, Hot Shot, Red Alert, Landmine, Clocker and Brakedown participating.
On Cybertron, (Episode 32-Balance) Crumplezone was attacked and eaten alive by Scrapmetals. Megatron then returned as a ghost and remade Crumplezone into Dark Crumplezone. It then seemed in that episode, Dark Crumplezone was insanley courageous and had a "take charge attitude". But he returned to his not-quite-so-courageous self in following episodes.
After his near death on Cybertron at the hands of the Scrapmetal, Crumplezone evolved into a new form, Dark Crumplezone (ArmBullet), by Megatron, becoming a full-fledged Decepticon. Dark Crumplezone has the same firepower except that he has two 'machine guns' on his chest in robot mode. The toy was a remold of the original.
When Galvatron needed the Decepticons to distract the Autobots while he used the power of the Cyber Planet Keys to control the Grand Black Hole, he used the power of the keys to turn Dark Crumplezone, Ransack, Thunderblast and Thundercracker into giants. After the fight the Decepticons returned to normal size.
After realising that Galvatron has no intentions of helping his minions escape the Black Hole disaster in the first place, Dark Crumplezone and the remaining Decepticons abandoned their allegiance to Galvatron and considered themselves free.
When the Autobots attempted to use a gigantic rocket to move the Jungle Planet back into it's orbit, Galvatron attacked damaged the rocket. The Jungle Planet threatened to crash into Cybertron. The combined strength of Scourge, the Autobots, the former Decepticons (Dark Crumplezone, Ransack, Thunderblast and Thundercracker), and their allies from the various planets were able to combine their strength and move the rocket back into place.
In the final episode of Transformers: Cybertron the "Speedia 500" race is held to determine the leader of Velocitron, which Hot Shot wins. Dirt Boss comes in second, Ransack third, Dark Crumplezone fourth, Brakedown fifth and Clocker sixth. Override didn't even compete, as she joins the new Space Bridge project led by Optimus Prime. The name of the race is a reference to the Japanese name of the planet, which is Speedia. In the ending, Dark Crumplezone formed a team with Ransack and Thunderblast (Chromia), declaring themselves as the new Decepticon army.
