Cruising for sex

Cruising for sex, or cruising, describes the act of walking or driving about a locality in pursuit of a partner for (often quick and anonymous) sex.

The term itself originated in gay slang, but can be used to describe the behavior of either homosexuals or heterosexuals (in the United States, the term is generally restricted to homosexuals whereas in Australia and the UK it is used just as much by heterosexuals, a common term being "cruising for chicks"). The term "sarging," used in the Seduction Community is a synonym; sarging, however, refers to searching for specifically heterosexual partners.

The term has been adopted by the website qruiser.com, a Swedish LGBT community; this is a tongue in cheek reference, however, as the community functions as a forum for social interaction for the Scandinavian region, rather than just focusing on sexual encounters. The website has also attracted many heterosexual members as well.

In the UK Hampstead Heath in London (especially the West Heath) is a well known and, it could be argued, accepted area for cruising activity to take place. The Highgate Bathing Ponds are particularly central to this lifestyle with various areas within the locality catering for different aspects of the cruising scene.
