Crucifix Hill

Hill 239, otherwise known as Crucifix Hill was the location of the Battle of Crucifix Hill which was a World War II battle. Crucifix Hill is located just outside Aachen, Germany and was named after the large crucifix atop the hill.

On October 8, 1944, American troops attacked the hill, which was controlled by the Germans. The Germans were dug in well, but the American prevailed thanks to heroics by Captain Bobbie E. Brown, who was awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during the battle.
