CRU is the world’s largest independent business analysis and consultancy groups focusing on the mining, metals, power, cables, fertilizer and chemical sectors.

The company was founded in 1969 as Commodities Research Unit by Robert Perlman and John Horam, former journalists at The Economist. The founding Chairman was Sir Sigmund Sternberg.

The company is still privately owned, and has offices in London, Beijing, Singapore, Raleigh, Rio de Janeiro, Seattle, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
