What does "Crookshanks is obtained in the third book" mean? Does "obtained in" really mean "appeared"? Moriori 02:42, 14 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Hermione buys Crookshanks in the third book, so I guess she "obtained" him.

[edit] Crookshanks is a Kneazle?

I don't recall reading anything about Crookshanks being anything other than an average everyday cat. What is the authors source? For that matter, I don't recall seeing anything about "Kneazles" in the HP series anyway.

I believe it was mentioned on JKR's author page and also in "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them."-Marira 17:01, 3 October 2005 (UTC)

Yes. In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, I do not recall it actually saying that Crookshanks is a Kneazle, but on JKR's website, she states that Crookshanks is a cross between a cat and a Kneazle, and also states that Arabella Figg breeds the two species together.
