Crotalus mitchellii is a rattlesnake species found in the Southwestern United States, and in northern Mexico. Three subspecies are currently recognized, including the typical form described here. They are commonly known as speckled rattlesnakes. The Angel de la Guarda Island Speckled Rattlesnake (Crotalus angelensis) and the El Muerto Island Speckled Rattlesnake (Crotalus muertensis) were previously recognized as subspecies, but are now considered separate species.
