Crooklyn Dodgers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crooklyn Dodgers was the name of two different groups which recorded solely for the Spike Lee films, "Clockers" and "Crooklyn." The first group was composed of Buckshot, Masta Ace, and Special Ed. Their one and only record was "Crooklyn," produced by A Tribe Called Quest, featured in both Crooklyn and Clockers as well as being sampled in Hilltop Hoods' "Working the Mic." The second group was composed of Chubb Rock, Jeru the Damaja, and O.C. Their one and only record was "Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers," produced by DJ Premier, featured in Clockers. North Carolina producer 9th Wonder resurrected the group concept in 2006 for a track on his Dream Merchant Vol. 2 album, titled "Crooklyn Dodgers Part 3". It featured Jean Grae, Mos Def and Memphis Bleek.
