Crood Awakening is an upcoming animated film being produced by Aardman Animations. The script is currently being co-written by John Cleese and Kirk DeMicco. Crood Awakening will not be contributed and distributed by DreamWorks Animation; Aardman and Dreamworks announced on Oct. 3, 2006 (a month before the release of Flushed Away) that they will not be extending their production and distribution deal due to "creative differences".[1] It is speculated this film will be realised in stop-motion as opposed to computer animation.^{[citation needed]}

The film is about a stone age tribal leader named Crood whose position as Leader of the Hunt is challenged by a prehistoric genius who comes up with revolutionary new inventions…like fire.
