Croatian humor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Croatian humor bears much resemblance to the humor of its surrounding countries, mainly the republics of the former Yugoslavia; and also the humor of other Slavic groups.
[edit] Mujo, Haso, Fata
Perhaps the most common type of joke involves two rather stupid male characters: Mujo and Haso. At times, Mujo's wife Fata is present in the joke. The characters are usually thought to be from Bosnia.
[edit] Perica, Ivica, Marica
Another common type of joke involves Perica, an inquisitive young boy with a very straightforward way of thinking. At times his best friend Ivica, and also sometimes a young girl Marica, is present in the joke. A typical occurrence in this type of joke involves Perica asking an adult (for example: his mother or his teacher at school) uncomfortable questions, or the adult asking Perica some sort of question and he responds with an inappropriate answer. Croatian "Perica jokes" bear much resemblance to English "Little Johnny jokes" and Russian "Vovochka jokes".
