Crispy Critters

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crispy Critters was a breakfast cereal, issued by Post Cereals in 1987, and discontinued shortly thereafter. It consisted of miniature sweetened animal cracker-like pieces.

The commercials for the cereal featured a puppet named "Crispy" with pom-pom antennae and a furry yellow body who would break out in songs, using an impersonation of Jimmy Durante (complete with his famous line: "Ah-cha-cha-cha!"). He would parade around with smaller animals (most likely representing the cereal), and they would all say the cereal's tagline: "It's indubitably delicious!"

Crispy was the original model for TV puppet ALF, but was rejected as too cartoonish. Post picked up the unused puppet as a mascot.
