[edit] Biography
Crimpshrine grew out of the East Bay scene, centered around 924 Gilman Street, and had an important influence on later East Bay bands such as Green Day and pop-punk in general. Their incredible touring ethic, which often consisted of playing with used equipment and hitching rides from city to city, made many people look up to them and their D.I.Y. approach.
The band wrote simple-sounding songs that combined the aggression and power not seen since the days of The Dead Kennedys and MDC with many different melodies. Lyrically, the band usually addressed issues such as personal politics and social change.
The year Crimpshrine was formed is a matter of certain debate. In an interview for Maximum RocknRoll[1] on August, 1988, Aaron Cometbus stated that the band has "really started going" on late 1986, though had existed for a few years earlier. The interview claims possible years of formation were 1977, 1982 or 1984.

- ^ The cover for Quit Talkin' Claude features a drawing of some punks leaning against a concrete structure. This structure, called "clob", was located in a swampy area of Benicia, California. Claude was supposedly a young punk colleague of the band who talked "a lot of shit." The drawing was made by artist Bobby Madness.
