Cricket Master 2005
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cricket Master 2005 was a freeware game in development by lastX, lead by Matthew Dufty and Greg Horrigan. The game was a fully integrated Cricket Management System where you could, as a cricket coach, move up the ranks as you gained experience, prestige and reputation. The game was nearing completion but wasn’t released due to endless technical difficulties.
It is one of many in the long list of cancelled video games and has an intriguing story behind it. Many people have been led to believe that this game was never intended to be released, hence being vapourware.
[edit] Hoax rumours
During the course of Cricket Master 2005’s development, many rumours were circling within the realms of many forums and websites. Some instances were relating to the mocked-up nature of the screenshots and various bug infested versions of the game which were released. The fury of the game’s supporters rose to even greater heights when Cricket Master 2006 was announced.
A rumour also floated about for quite a while that the game might have had actually existed, some more ridiculous ones claiming that it might actually be released, but the project leader Matthew Dufty put those rumours to rest by saying: "I have nothing to report at the moment. I am losing interest in Cricket Master 2005 again."
The most popular hoax is the "Cricket Master 2005 is actually good" hoax; which none of the "Beta testers" confirmed.
