Star Trek is irrevent to seafaring. The whole idea implies the unprofessional attitude of this encyclopedia. Has any encyclepedia have a reference to Star Trek under a crew topic? -anon user 17Nov05

  • Sorry you feel that way. It actually says Crewman has been used in science fiction and then gives Star Trek as a reference since the term was used extensively in several productions of the show. The article Ranks and insignia of Starfleet also links to this article, giving the need for a return link. I suppose, if the article were more developed, it could be split into two separate, one for the real world term of crewman and then an article for Crewman (science fiction). -Husnock 14:02, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
