Cretecism was a progressive metal band from Crete that was the first to combine traditional cretan music with progressive rock. It achieved very good comments in the Greek Metal Hammer magazine. Leader of the band was Giannis Avgoustinakis who was one of the first people to bring rock culture to Ierapetra of Crete in the early 80s. The band has a lot of influences from the American band Dream Theater.
