The Crested Genet is a species of carnivore mammal of the family Viverridae, related to civets and linsangs. Its name comes from the small crest on the back of the animal's neck. It inhabits primary rainforest of south-eastern Nigeria and southern Cameroon.
The Crested Genet is considered endangered on the IUCN Red List, due to loss of habitat and over-hunting, although its secretive nature makes it hard for conservationists to make an adequate estimate on population size.
Some authorities consider this species to be a subspecies of the Servaline Genet Genetta servalina.
