Creed Taylor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Creed Taylor is an American record producer. He is the founder of two jazz record labels, Impulse! Records and CTI Records. He was also a producer of note at Verve Records and is widely acknowledged for bringing major bossa nova talent from Brazil (Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao & Astrud Gilberto, Walter Wanderley, among others) to record in the U.S. in the 1960s. Previous to bringing Brazilian talent to the U.S., Creed Taylor was also responsible for producing the very first bossa nova album released in the United States that featured only U.S. musicians on the recording (Jazz Samba).
