Created Human (Japanese: 「造られた人間」 - Tsukurareta Ningen) is episode 22 of the Fullmetal Alchemist TV series originally aired 2004-03-06.
Knowing that the Elric brothers have gone to Laboratory 5, Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes organizes an expedition to rescue them from who-knows-what. Unbeknownst to Ed, Envy has been gathering more "ingredients" (prisoners, including "Crimson Alchemist" Zolf J. Kimblee, who was imprisoned for war crimes) to add to Ed's attempt to transmute a Philosopher's Stone. Führer King Bradley joins Lt. Colonel Hughes' expedition. Kimbley sets off an explosion, dumping the prisoners into the room where Ed is preparing to transmute the Stone. Envy, Lust and Gluttony arrive to give Edward an ultimatum: transmute the precursor material, and the live prisoners, into the Philosopher's Stone; or, watch as they break Alphonse's blood seal which keeps him alive and attached to his armor. As much as Ed would like to return Al to human form, he can't go through with it. Before Envy can give Ed another beating or Lust can break Al's blood seal, Scar arrives on the scene and all hell breaks loose.
[edit] Trivia
- Continuity error: The Führer says that he will allow "the Major" to command the mission to rescue Ed and Al from Lab 5, referring to Maës Hughes. However, Hughes was promoted to Lt. Colonel sometime prior to Episode 13.
- All of the homunculi (except Wrath who has not yet been introduced, and Pride who has not technically been discovered yet) make appearances in this episode.
- Strange thing: Even though Envy can change into anyone and wear anything in the process, instead of transforming, he chooses to dress up as a soldier with Lust and Gluttony as they leave Lab 5.
