[edit] A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] boner for wiki

That wasn't vandalism... I added that line myself. It was from an IRC conversation I was having with someone (not on freenode). But it's okay, seeing as I was going to replace it with something else anyways. —this is messedr͏̈ocker (talk) 18:23, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My WP:RFA

Hi. I saw your weak support at my WP:RFA and offered the following explanation: Please see this example When overhauling an article or creating a new one, I'll often make a sandbox page - in my user area - and do edits there first. You'll notice a lot of my new articles are full-fledged articles from the first edit - but that inflates my user area edit count.

Anyway, weak or not, thanks for your support!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 02:36, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

 • Changed to strong support, thanks for the explanation. ~Chris (squirrels!!) 02:47, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] R3:PH34R MY 1337 5KI115!

Damn, I'm good at l33tsp34k. Anyway, I realise that my user page may not appeal to you poor IE users; however, if I were to make it so it worked in IE, it wouldn't work in Firefox, and so on. I've been approached about it before; you're just beating a dead horse. And my grafix are too awexome to abandon for now; however, just for you I'll see if I can put together a nice composition that works well with all the kiddies. Cheers, Master of Puppets Giant Enemy Crab! 00:58, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

 • Well, it really doesn't matter to me if it doesn't look good in IE6, I think IE sucks too (:. In opera 8.5, the show/hides on the userpage work, yet not on the talkpage. ~Chris (squirrels!!) 00:10, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ikiroid's RfA

You made a support vote in the oppose section. I think you meant to put it in the oppose section. I have therefore moved your vote and tallied appropriately. Please correct if I am wrong. JoshuaZ 05:04, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

I meant support, as you see from my comment. ~ ctales *blah* 05:14, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA thanks

Hello Crazytales56297/Archive2, and thank you for your strong support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with an overwhelming final count of (105/2/0). I was very pleased with the outpouring of kind words from the community that has now entrusted me with these tools, from the classroom, the lesson in human psychology and the international resource known as Wikipedia. The Free Encyclopedia. Please feel free to leave me plenty of requests, monitor my actions (through the admin desk on my userpage) and, if you find yourself in the mood, listen to some of what I do in real life. In any case, keep up the great work and have a fabulous day. Grandmasterka 07:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your support!

[edit] Userboxes

Interesting userboxes; I rank a two on the Kinsey Scale as well. — Nathan (talk) / 02:06, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, and if you're wondering about my exclusion of political userboxes when I have so much else, I'm not keen on getting caught up in a wheel war like the pædophilia one. ~ ctales *blah* 17:42, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh that thought didn't cross my mind at all. I wasn't even thinking about that. :) — Nathan (talk) / 21:56, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
You know, when I was 14 (this is going back a bit), I didn't even think about sexual orientation (not that anyone paid any attention to me anyway). I thought about it a bit at 18/19. And you think you have a screwed up family.... — Nathan (talk) / 04:18, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
I guess I'm sorta expected to think about my sexual orientation earlier due to 21st century culture. And how is your family screwed up? ~ ctales *blah* 04:26, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
All this talk about sex in society and my general response is "yeah? i don't see the big deal". I can get into a relationship with anyone of either sex but anything further requires a lot of discussion. I e-mailed you a response to the question asked. — Nathan (talk) / 00:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civil

Regarding your comment on my talk page: I'd appreciate it if you did not so arrogantly attempt to teach me manners, especially when you are not aware of the history of the issue nor the reasons for being "pissed off". At any rate, the issue had been resolved long ago. Thanks. DonIncognito 23:57, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Changing the font

Regarding your message on the Village Pump, here is what you should do:

Create a file called User:Crazytales56297/monobook.css and add the following

font
{
font-family:Tahoma;
}

If it doesn't work, please contact me on my talk page, cheers —Minun Spiderman 19:13, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

I've found the problem, just replace font with #content

[edit] Need Help

Hello, I need a little help on how to get trusted by fellow Wikipedians. Can you help me, cheers —Minun SpidermanReview Me 09:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Hi Minun, I think a good way to be trusted is to make good decisions in AfD's and RfA's and get a lot of wikipedia namespace activity. This is why I'm delaying my RfA until after I have at least 500 wikipedia: edits. Also, having a lot of article talk involvement really helps. ~ crazytales56297 -talk- 01:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

yeah that is most excellently better. thanx

 1. how was your trip?
 2. How do i change font size and color to make my link to my talk page look better?

Teh tennisman--Speak your piece! 01:51, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Trip was great; how was yours to Hawaii? And you can use HTML tags to change the size and colour. For example,
<font color="#ff00ff"><b>Teh tennisman</b></font>
— <small><font color="green">Speak your piece!</font></small>

would translate to: Teh tennismanSpeak your piece!. The coding for my sig is:

<!--user:Where/sigContract;crazytales56297-->
<font face="Verdana">~
<b><font color="#ff00ff">c.</font>
<font color="#8000ff">tales</font></b>
<small>*talk*</small></font>
<!--ESC:crazytales56297-->

which translates to ~ c. tales *talk*. Regards, ~ c. tales *talk* 02:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] commenting on admin matters such as blocks.

Non admins are always welcome to give their opinions on admin related matters when their is some question of what the community consensus is. Consensus is definitely not formed by just the admins. JoshuaZ 03:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Okay, I guess that fear of my non admin opinion being discounted was preventing my psychologically from posting on ANI, thanks. ~ c. tales *talk* 03:37, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you so much for voting in my recent RFA. It passed on the relatively narrow vote of 38/8/8. It was also one of the least-participated-in RFA nominations in several months, so pat yourself on the back, and join the party on your left, but first, take your cookie!

Request for Adminship
Thank you for contributing to my my request for adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a withdrawn vote count of 14/27/14, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and keeping cool under stress. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway Return to Oz... 13:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA and your vote

Hi Crazytales,
Thanks for participating in my RFA! Ultimately, no consensus was reached, but I still appreciate the fact that you showed up to add in your two cents. I'm flattered by the fact that you thought I was already an admin. You can feel free to talk to me about it or add some advice on my improvement page.

Sincerely, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me)

[edit] Adminship (Netscott)

Thanks for your note! I get confused for being an admin by other editors (even admins :-) often enough. It would be a pleasure to be an admin, however I think right now likely isn't the best time for me to go through an RfA process. Was there some editing in particular I did that you noticed that inclined you to write me? (Netscott) 19:34, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Not really, I just noticed you were pretty active on ANI and decided to do and editcount. You're certainly experinced enough. ~ c. tales *talk* 19:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC) (typign on a crap keytboard at a library)

[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Crazytales56297, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). It's a block without prejudice as far as I am concerned. It has a very simple practical basis, allowing them to continue editing breaks just about every page they do edit, until they get the proxy they use repaired or stop using it they should remain blocked. In that particular case they were blocked at the same time as another user, also using a broken proxy both of whom happened to vote the same way on the same AFD and both being brand new users, could be a coincidence, might be worth checking with User:Mackensen if they both happened to be using the same broken proxy. --pgk(talk) 17:52, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
