[edit] Summary
This article is about auditioning for performance plays and what to normally expect. It also provides information on how to prepare for a cheery musical. The auther of this article is WikiManWonder, and I made it myself, with the aid of my years of experience in acting.
WHAT TO EXPECT OF A MUSICAL AUDITION
Now, musical auditions are tricky, as are any auditions. You never know what the casting director is looking for. Be it gender, age, hair color, ethnicity, and if you can believe it, actual talent! (and sometimes it is very hard to believe, so don't be down on yourself if you don't make the part you wanted. If you don't, walk away with your head held high and don't be discouraged. There's always next time!)
Traditionally, the auditioners will have you prepare 16 measures of music for you to sing for them. Many theatre groups will require you to bring your own sheet music as well, unless of course you are singing achapella(without accompanyment). The type of audition varies with the theatre group. It could be a closed audition, or it could be an open audition. A closed audition would just be you and them. In an open audition, you would be required to sing in front of every other person trying out. TIPS ON MUSICAL AUDITIONS
1. When auditioning, be sure to put a measure of emotion and emphasizim into it.
2. Feel free to move around a little during it too, they love that. Not enough to distract you from the song though. That's what really matters.
3. If you mess up, don't worry. Either keep going, or if its at the begginning, start over.
4. Warm up before hand
