Crash n' Burn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crash N' Burn was a futuristic battle racing forced forward motion title for the Panasonic 3DO Interactive Multiplayer and was developed by Crystal Dynamics. The game was set in the year 2044 A.D., "just after the big one", as the back of the game's jewel case suggests. Players assume the role of any one of 6 cyberpunks, each equipped with a deadly supply of weapons that may be fired from the driver's seat of their vehicle. Real full-motion video of the various racers were accessible in between races, in which each character would flaunt their skills and insult their opponents with cheesy death threats. The game had a fairly simplistic tournament mode and was only designed for one player. Due to its moderate success, a secondary "not for resale" version of the title was also bundled with the 3DO system in 1994.
Crystal Dynamics was purchased by Eidos in the late 90s. Another racing title called "Crash N' Burn" was released in 2005 for the Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation 2, although this release bears no similarities to the 3DO title of the same name.
