"Crash" is a pop song written by Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal for Stefani's debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby (2004). The song was released as the album's sixth single in early 2006 (see 2006 in music). Initially "Crash" had not been planned as a single, but was released in lieu of Stefani's then-pregnancy.
The song is influenced by 1980s pop music, similar to "Cool" (2005). It documents Stefani waiting for someone to arrive at a party that she is attending, in which she reminds them to "take a U-turn", and the lyrics include her shouting.

[edit] Chart performance
"Crash" had never been planned as a major single-release from Love. Angel. Music. Baby., but in light of Stefani's pregnancy, and in the event that she was incapable of writing music for some time, it was promoted so that her image remained active in the mainstream market. However, because it was released as the sixth single, success was very limited since many consumers had already purchased the album, which at the time had been certified 3x platinum in the U.S.[1] and Canada.[2] It only managed to reach number forty-nine for two consecutive weeks on the U.S. Hot 100 and experienced similar failure on its component charts.
"Crash" was the only single from Love. Angel. Music. Baby. that did not receive a CD single solicitation in Canada; in addition, the track experienced minimal radio success, and peaked at number eighty-seven on the BDS Airplay Chart.
The single received minimal promotion; it was seen as a placeholder until the next major release from Stefani. The music video did not garner strong airplay across North America, and was placed on medium rotation before being downgraded to light rotation the following week.
"Crash" failed to make an impact in Mexico. It peaked at number ninety-nine on the singles chart and the video received very little rotation.
[edit] Music video
The song's music video features a live performance from Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Tour. The live performance was used because Gwen Stefani was pregnant at the time, which put a hamper on actual dancing and time to make the music video. The video premiered March 8, 2006, on MuchMusic's MuchOnDemand.
