Cranborne Middle School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cranborne Middle School is a 9-13 Middle-deemed-Secondary school located in the village of Cranborne, East Dorset, England. Most pupils come from Cranborne First School, St. James' First School and Sixpenny Handley First School. On leaving Cranborne, pupils mostly transfer to Queen Elizabeth's School, Wimborne Minster. The current headmaster is Mr Paul Chadwick.
Due to the location of Cranborne Middle School, it doesn't have as much chance to attract local people as Emmanuel Middle School. It currently has approximately 390 pupils. Years 7 and 8 are smaller than years 5 and 6 due to pupils moving to Secondary School when they are in the age range.
Cranborne Middle School is one of the few remaining (less than 400) Middle Schools in England.
[edit] Video Conferencing
Some Cranborne Middle school pupils in Year 8, that are good at french, are given the option of video conferencing (funded by the Local Education Authority). This is done once a week where they get paired up with a french pupil from a school in Lessay, La Manche. They will then talk to this french pupil every week, one week in English, the next in French. In November, the video conferencers get to visit their french pupils. The trip is led by the french teacher, Ruth Parker.
