Cramlington Community High School

Cramlington Community High School is a large high school in Cramlington, Northumberland. Operating under the three-tier system in Northumberland, the school takes students from age 13-18. It was recently awarded Beacon school status and is a Science College and was also selected as one of the nation's "Leading Edge" schools by the office of Public Service Reform (Cabinet Office). The school claims to be a place "where the science of learning meets the art of teaching". Cramlington High also boasts a purpose built Sixth Form Centre (opened 1998) which has recently undergone a refurbishment with flat screen computers and new study rooms. The current Head of Sixth Form is Mr Reeman.

The school was originally built in 1969, but has recently added a multi-million pound Sports Centre. As of 2006, the headteacher is Mr. Derek Wise, who has been serving the school in this capacity since 1990.

Mr. Wise and Head of Science Mark Lovatt have written a book, "Creating an Accelerated Learning School", which explains their implementation of accelerated learning techniques including Information Technology at CCHS. It is published by Network Press as part of their Accelerated Learning series.
