The Super Soaker CPS 2000 was a CPS class water gun released in 1996 by Larami. Today, it is arguably the most sought after and revered soaker by enthusiasts and members of the online community. However, many members of the online water gun community believe that the CPS 2000 is a highly-overrated and over-hyped water gun, especially those interested in homemade water guns.^{[citation needed]}

[edit] CPS 2000 Mk1

The original version of the CPS 2000 was released in spring of 1996. Being the first water gun to ever sport a Constant Pressure System (CPS), it began what many refer to as the "third age of water wars" (the first beginning upon the release of the SS 50 in 1988 and the second after the first XP blaster was released in the early nineties). The most powerful blaster of its time and still currently unmatched, it sported a whopping 25x-30x nozzle size (1x being 1 oz/second output rating).

A popular myth states that at close range, a CPS 2000 once blew a young kid's eye out of the socket. Whether or not the myth is true, one thing is certain: Larami discontinued the CPS 2000 Mk1 to make way for the Mk2 (and eventually the CPS 2500).

[edit] CPS 2000 Mk2

The CPS 2000 Mk2 was a replacement to the Mk1. This version of the CPS 2000 was lighter, the Mk1 reportedly having 1/3 more capacity than the Mk2. Conflicting sources have reported both the Mk1 and the Mk2 having a longer shot time and range than the other.

The most visible differences between the two are;

The Mk1 has a much longer pressure gauge than the Mk2.
The Mk2 has a tethered screw on reservoir cap, the Mk1's is untethered.
The pump handle on some versions of the Mk2 has a grey disc with a pin visible. This is absent on the Mk1.

The CPS 2000 is quite possibly the most sought after soaker by enthusiasts and the online community. Going for an average of between 150-300 dollars on eBay, it is the pride and joy of many a collector and warrior. The gun was replaced in 1998 by the similar looking yet toned down CPS 2500, another must-have for serious enthusiasts and collectors.

Some people believe the CPS 2000 is the most rare Super Soaker item, but that is not true at all because the CPS 2000 saw large scale production and is a fairly regular item on eBay. There are many rare items we have not seen or have seen little of, such as the Super Soaker Robot. Of course, those items typically have little value to those aside from collectors.
