Coyote Waits is a novel by Tony Hillerman.
The plot involves rock formation vandalism, a dead policeman, an elderly Navajo accused of his murder, a bottle of expensive scotch, and a book on Navajo witchcraft beliefs.
This book involves the characters Joe Leaphorn, Jim Chee, and Janet Pete.
It was adapted for television in 2002. It starred Adam Beach as Chee and Wes Studi as Leaphorn. It also featured Graham Greene and Keith Carradine. It aired as part of PBS's Mystery! series.
