Coventry railway station, just outside the centre of the city of Coventry, lies on the Birmingham loop of the West Coast Main Line, and forms a junction where lines to Nuneaton, and to Oxford, Reading and the south coast, join the southbound WCML towards London.

[edit] History

The original station was built in 1838 as part of the London and Birmingham Railway and within two years it was rebuilt a few hundred feet nearer to Rugby. The station saw a number of modifications and extensions over the years which meant that when it was finally demolished in 1960 parts dated back 120 years. The present station of four platforms was constructed in the 1960s and is now a Grade-II listed building.

[edit] Services

The station is served by Virgin Trains and Central Trains. In the past, it has also been served by Silverlink, but these routes were transferred to Central Trains in 2004.
