Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown

Countdown To Lockdown is an American reality TV series of six parts which debuted in 2006. It counted down Lil' Kim's last fourteen days of freedom. She was convicted of perjury and conspiracy and was sentenced to 366 days in Federal Prison at The Philadelphia Detention Center. She was released on July 2, 2006 at 2PM which marked 80% of her sentence as required by federal sentencing guidelines. Her TV show is highly rated and widely viewed. There is rumoured to be another reality show about her life after prison in the works.

The first episode opens up with Kim announcing that she is innocent of perjury. She goes on to say that "in 14 days I'm going away. I have to turn myself in to the U.S. Marshals. It feels surreal..." At the beginning some of the cast members begin talking about Kim and her conviction. Then it starts with Kim introducing everyone. The episode is mostly about how she feels about Junior M.A.F.I.A. turning on her and the entire ordeal. At the end of the episode the show clips from every episode. The programme attracted 1.9 million viewers in 1.4 million households and scored a 1.7 rating. Throughout the entire episode she introduces people and celebrities like Ja Rule who comments stating that "Thats Some BS How thet gon' turn on her like that, Thats F up." In the end of the show it reviews several moments from all the shows including bad and good moments.

The episode beginning with Lil' kim going to watch the video for her new single "Lighters Up". She gets upset and calls some of her friends and tells them how it makes her look big and ugly. So she gets on the phone with a film director Kirk Frasier and he tells her that he can do a good job for a small amount of money. Kim pays him $7,000 dollars for filming pickup shots for "Whoa" and "Lighters Up". Lil' Kim goes shopping with some of the cast members and has a good 'ol time. She later goes to a DJ's B-Day party where they play a lot of new tracks from her album The Naked Truth. Kim says, "I love it, at the party they were playing some of my new songs. I'm really going to miss them". Around the same time several tracks of her developing artist Maino leaked to the internet and radio-stations. The song was viewed over 30,000 times on Youtube.com. He wasn't ready to release his new mixtape. But instead before Kim's lockup he shot to videos and one of them featuring Kim. The mixtape has sold 165,000 copies in the US. In April he released a new video called "Stomp". Instead of releasing the original song as intended, they released the remix to it which features Lil' Kim. It has almost been viewed 70,000 times on youtube. Maino is very thankful. Kim says that if he's ready an album will be released in 2007.


[edit] Episode 3:The mother of all episodes

The episode opens with Kim shooting a video for Lighters Up. Things seem to be going good, until they arrive at an editing session video for the . Kim erupts with anger cursing and yelling at film/video director Kirk Frasier. They eventually start cooperating and get it done. Later Kim comes out happy. The episode was a huge commercial success which may have drawn in a broader audience. Despite the argument the video editing was done quicker than expected. Kirk has not confirmed but there is a rumor he'll be doing a new single for Kim.

Episode 4 starts of with Kim preparing to go to Marc Jacobs party. She can't find her misplaced/stolen shirt and her publicist Tracy Neugen. It turns out that she is wearing Kim's shirt. Kim's cousin La La goes of and says , "I should have punched her in her face". Tracy claims that she forget that that was Kims shirt and accidentally wore it. They arrive at the party and kim performs two songs of her album : "Shutup Chick" and "Lighters Up". She parties and her assistant Nate disappears.

Episode 5 is the most emotional and heartfelt episode of them all according to singer Mary J. Blige. It starts when Kim goes to the store and gets $1,000 worth of stuff for her friend's party. She then leaves the party and goes to Mr. Chows (a Chinese restaurant). In come some of her friends like Mary J. Blige, Zab Judah, Swizz Beatz, and many others. Everyone says what they need to about Kim and says and commendates some of her accomplishments. Kim later goes up and says her statement about how she is turned against and how she always has peoples backs but never gets the same in return. Many people who watched commented that they were crying because of the sadness. After that Paparazzi was stalking Kim as she walked to her car. Then they went to a club party and had fun for the next few hours. Rating:

[edit] Episode 6: Season Finale

The episode opens with Kim going to get her weave and nails taken off and preparing to go to jail. She later has a prayer with her mom and a priest. Her mother passes out and she begins to cry. Meanwhile her lawyer is trying to change the date she has to surrender. It fails meaning that Kim would have to turn herself in that day. She takes a big bus all the way to Philadelphia which makes them 2 hours late. During the trip there Kim has her laughs and hugs before she has to go to jail. When they arrive there are hundreds of fans standing outside of the jail. There are too many people so she uses her cousin La La to decoy. It fails but Kim still goes in. After she went her brother and friends were happy because some of the women were excited to have Kim there. An arrest warrant was filed for Kim for 2026. Ratings:

[edit] Episodes Season 2

Season 2 began production on June 26, 2006. It is rumored to have 6-13 episodes. It will begin counting down the last few days of Kim getting out of jail and follow her while she is on house arrest. The show will also show her recording new tracks for her new album. The reps for Kim stated in a recent interview that the popularity of the show matters more than before because they will be trying to promote the album on the show. Kim is currently editing the show's episodes.
