[edit] Steps

[edit] Leader

  1. Stand with your feet together facing your partner.
  2. Put your right hand on the middle of your partner's back. You will primarily use this hand to lead your partner.
  3. Put your left hand out to your side with your arm slightly bent.
  4. Gently grasp your partner's hand.
  5. When The Music starts:
  6. On the first beat, take a small step slowly to the left with your left foot, so your partner can synchronize with you. This step should continue through the second beat.
  7. On the third beat, take a small step slowly to the right with your right foot. Move forward just a little with this step, so your partner knows you're ready to move. This step should continue through the fourth beat.
  8. On the fifth beat, step forward quickly with your left foot.
  9. On the sixth beat, step forward quickly with your right foot.
  10. On the seventh beat, step forward again with your left foot, but slowly, and continue doing so through the eighth beat.
  11. On the ninth beat, step forward slowly with your right foot, continuing through the tenth.
  12. Repeat steps 8 through 11.

[edit] Follower

  1. Place your left hand on the leader's right shoulder.
  2. Bend your right elbow and place the palm of your right hand lightly on his or her outstretched palm.
  3. Do the opposite of what your partner does. Move your right foot to the side when the leader moves his left on the first beat, etc.
  4. Continue following the directions for the leader, but in reverse - stepping back with your left foot when she or he steps forward with his right.
