[edit] Steps
[edit] Leader
- Stand with your feet together facing your partner.
- Put your right hand on the middle of your partner's back. You will primarily use this hand to lead your partner.
- Put your left hand out to your side with your arm slightly bent.
- Gently grasp your partner's hand.
- When The Music starts:
- On the first beat, take a small step slowly to the left with your left foot, so your partner can synchronize with you. This step should continue through the second beat.
- On the third beat, take a small step slowly to the right with your right foot. Move forward just a little with this step, so your partner knows you're ready to move. This step should continue through the fourth beat.
- On the fifth beat, step forward quickly with your left foot.
- On the sixth beat, step forward quickly with your right foot.
- On the seventh beat, step forward again with your left foot, but slowly, and continue doing so through the eighth beat.
- On the ninth beat, step forward slowly with your right foot, continuing through the tenth.
- Repeat steps 8 through 11.
[edit] Follower
- Place your left hand on the leader's right shoulder.
- Bend your right elbow and place the palm of your right hand lightly on his or her outstretched palm.
- Do the opposite of what your partner does. Move your right foot to the side when the leader moves his left on the first beat, etc.
- Continue following the directions for the leader, but in reverse - stepping back with your left foot when she or he steps forward with his right.
