Count Raven is a Swedish doom metal band. It was formed in 1989 by vocalist Christian Linderson, guitarist Dan Fondelius, bassist Tommy Erikkson and drummer Christer Pettersson. A year later, the group released its first album, Storm Warning, for the Hellhound label. The album received great reviews from the European metal press, but Linderson left soon after to join Saint Vitus. Fondelius became the frontman beginning with 1992's Destruction of the Void. There are a few similarities with of Black Sabbath’s doomy works. This is also witnessed by the vocals, which sound very Ozzy Osbourne-like. Unfortunately Dan Fondelius has left Count Raven to concentrate on his own band Doomsday Government.
