Council of Keewatin

The Council of Keewatin was the legislative body for the defunct District of Keewatin territory in Canada.

The Council existed during from the territory's creation in 1876 to its dissolution in 1905.

All members to the council were appointed. The Council was led by the Lieutenant-Governor of Manitoba. The Council's first 6 members were appointed on November 25, 1876. [1] The council sat in Winnipeg, Manitoba despite being outside of the boundaries of the District of Keewatin.

The council was tasked with fighting the smallpox epidemic in the territory.
