Council for Voluntary Service
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A type of charity in England. CVS's are "the place at which local voluntary and community organisations speak to each other". They offer a wide variety of services and support for local organisations, such as funding advice and training, and often represent them in suitable local fora. Three examples of CVS's are , Voluntary Action Westminster, Hastings Voluntary Action and Southend Association of Voluntary Services.
They may or may not incorporate the local Volunteer Centre.
The English national organisation of CVS's changed its name to NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) on 14 June 2006. Their site has links to each local organisation and can be found at NACVS.
Each county in Wales has a County Voluntary Council rather than a CVS.
