Cotai

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cotai (Chinese: 路氹城) is 5.2 sq. km. [1] of newly reclaimed land between Taipa and Coloane in Macau that has not yet been assigned to any of the freguesias. The name is derived by combining the first few letters of each of the two islands, Coloane and Taipa.

Galaxy Entertainment's Grand Waldo Casino was the first casino to commence operations in Cotai, opening its doors in May, 2006. The construction of many other casino and hotel projects are currently underway. The most notable project is Las Vegas Sands' Cotai Strip, which is scheduled to open its first casino in 2007.
