Cosmic joker

Cosmic joker, a term attributed to author Charles Fort, generally referring to a supposed higher power who is responsible for various anomalous phenomena on Earth, said manifestations being of a perverse and black-humoured nature. The exact term does not appear in Fort's writings, but related terms and concepts certainly do, such that later writers acknowledge and attribute Fort for the phrase.
